Paulina focuses her practice in international corporate and tax law. She is licensed to practice law in Mexico only and has been practicing since 1994 in both Mexico and the United States.
Paulina’s work has included matters involving taxation of corporate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations, permanent establishment issues, taxation of nonresident entities and individuals, value-added tax, stock option and stock purchase plans, employment taxation, intercompany pricing, international tax planning in compliance with international tax treaties and Mexican tax law, technology tax issues, Mexican social security (“IMSS”) and housing fund (“INFONAVIT”) contributions, maquiladora related issues, and tax controversies and litigation in Mexico.
Paulina was born in Mexico City where she obtained her law degree in 1995. She obtained a Masters Degree in Mexican Tax Law in 1999 in Juarez, Mexico.
Before joining Aguilera International Counsel, LLP, Paulina worked at the Consulate of Mexico in Phoenix, Arizona. Previous to that, she practiced with the law firm of Baker & McKenzie in Juarez, Mexico, and Chicago, Illinois, for approximately 7 years. She also practiced with the law firm of Bryan, Gonzalez Vargas y Gonzalez Baz, S.C. for 3 years before joining Baker & McKenzie.
